AHS / PNTA Volunteer Vacations

American Hiking Society 2004 Volunteer Vacations, hosted by the Pacific Northwest Trail Association

Thanks to all volunteers who helped make the PNTA 2004 Volunteer Vacations a total success. Our project for this year was in the Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest, on the High Divide Trail. The High Divide Trail is now seeing far more use, as the Forest Service has recently redone the trail head on the Mt. Baker Scenic Highway-542. Drainage issues have always been a problem here, and our crews were assigned the tasks fixing the problem areas. We created approximately 120 feet of turnpike, 12 feet of puncheon, installed 9 culverts, and hauled several tons of rock. Needless to say, the volunteers did an amazing job, and the trail looks terrific. We are extremely appreciative for all your time and energy. Thank you all!

Just wanted to say thanks again for all the hard work put in on the trail. We really appreciate your dedication toward trails and keeping them alive and maintained. Your willingness to volunteer on your vacation for a trail crew shows your true love and dedication for the outdoors, trails, environment and to the society for giving back.

Regional Coordinator, Cascade West Region

Special thanks to the Backcountry Horsemen for all their efforts. Without their help, these trips would not have been possible.
